Fetal bovine serum for stem cells comes from Australia free of BSE. Stem cells are the least differentiated cells, of which unnecessary differentiation can be induced by many common biomolecules in serum. Likewise, these cells have basic needs for growth in culture. Fetal bovine serum specific to stem cells is used for testing their ability to maintain the undifferentiated cell morphology of these cells. The serum is proved to be excellent ES cells by tests of immunocytochemical identification of pluripotent proteins such as OCT4.
